Hunger is threatening around

Living near frontline areas in Yemen means suffering immensely from not getting access easily to adequate food which makes them very food-unsecured, struggle against a long-term conflict, and sustain from tough living conditions. Generally speaking, life in such areas has always been in grave jeopardy since the war started off in 2015.

While famine is threatening around, where 19 million Yemenis are suffering from starvation - as mentioned in the HNO 2022 of Yemen, YFCA has been collaborating with World Food Programme (WFP) to relieve the suffering through the General Food Assistance (GFA) project. A total of 51,418 food baskets were monthly delivered to 51,418 of the most vulnerable households from Local communities and IDPs in At-Tawilah district – Al-Mahwit governorate & Taiz governorate including Saber Al-Mawadim, Salh, Maqbanah, Al-Makha, Mashra’ah Wa Hadnan & Al-Shamayatain districts.

Maryam Ali Abdo Salah, a marginalized woman in her Fifties, and a mother of seven boys and five girls lives in a traditional shelter in Rase' site – Maqbanah district. She has been benefiting from the general food assistance through YFCA 3 years ago. “My husband's death burdened me with the responsibilities of my kids. I was suffering to ensure a decent life for them, providing them with the minimal needs living. I have faced the toughest living conditions and never gave up saving my children." She stated. On top of taking care of her kids, Maryam was hosting her married son Abdo, and his wife and six kids, sharing all that she has for living with them. "Actually, I felt safe, happy and dignified after being targeted within this intervention,” Maryam added.
