Situation Overview:
International reports show that an estimated 14.5 million Yemenis need humanitarian assistance to establish or maintain access to safe water, basic sanitation, and hygiene facilities, including 8.2 million people who acutely need intensive support.
According to UNICEF reports, over 2.5 million children are at risk of diarrheal diseases, while more than 1.3 million children face the threat of acute respiratory tract infections.The majority of people living in major cities are suffering from a shortage of water supply or complete water cut received through the public network. These cities include the capital city, Sana’a, Taiz, and Hodeida. What made the situation worse is the continuing internal displacements from conflict areas.

- Assist in the construction, rehabilitation of the WASH infrastructures and supplies, which were originally weak and are now severely damaged.
- Aiding the failing urban and rural water and sanitation systems.
- Prevent existing water and sanitation systems from completely collapsing.
- Develop access to safe drinking water and adequate sanitation facilities.
- Aware targeted people of better hygiene practices.
- Provide assistance to improve the poor performance of – sewage system.
- Work closely with local communities and direct beneficiaries to ensure local ownership and development of sustainable water, sanitation, and hygiene programs.
- Ensure water access to the large scale of people movement and displacement which adds a new burden to the existing water sources.
