Hala Ahmed, 20 twenty years old, is pregnant for the first time. Her pregnancy status was stable and normal as she mentioned. She didn’t feel the anxiety for interruption that may courage her to look for any medical check or advice. Until she reached the ninth month when she felt a severe headache, which forced her to go to the medical center locates near her house. However, unfortunately, this center was not equipped to receive critical cases. Hala was diagnosed with pre-eclampsia, which will directly and negatively affect the mother and threatens the life of both the mother and her child, thus she needs to terminate the pregnancy urgently. “I’m not worried about myself; I am afraid that I may lose my child or something might affect his health”. Her case was urgent and severe, so she had to move emergently to a hospital that can receive her interactable care. Immediately, Hala moved toward Alsabaeen hospital.
Alsabaeen Maternity and Childhood Hospital considered as the reference hospital in Amanah alasemah, Sana’a governorate. The obstetric emergency of Alsabaeen Hospital provides various maternal, newborn and RH services (Antenatal care, postnatal care. family planning, normal delivery & C section). These services are available to the community by YFCA operational implementation and UNFPA fund. The hospital serves more than 90 cases per day, 2300 per month, and 28000 per year. The services aim to take more effective measures to address maternal and infant mortality.
Al Sabeen hospital is located far away from Hala’s residence, add to this the unpaved road she must Cross which makes her condition even much worse. After she reached the hospital, her case was received in the obstetric emergency department, detected and urgently transferred to a cesarean section. The mother was rescued and transferred to the intensive care department to monitor the situation closely. She spent days in the care until her condition stabilized, and then she moved to the inpatient department to complete the required care. The child also received safe health services till they discharge from the hospital. Hala mentioned, “I am so grateful and appreciative to the medical team who saved me and my baby”. “I wish every woman could get such qualified services near her residential area, and I wish I could get a free medical service, because of the difficult circumstances, we are going through” She added.
