Saving a family from perdition

Saving a family from perdition
Tuesday, 25 April, 2017

Ms. Juma Ahmed Hadi is a single parent of one of the displaced families of Hajjah province. She is more than seventy years old and suffers from the deterioration of her health and the pains in her joints, however, she is still doing everything she can from to secure necessary food items for her and four other people who are all too old and have no dependents.
Ms. Juma, stated that the place of her and her family’s current displacement at the Directorate of Aslam is not the first place they were displaced to. They have fled to different places and were forced to flee from their residence in Almozrak area (Almozrak: is one of the Yemeni areas adjacent to the border with Saudi Arabia, which is exposed to air strikes and artillery coalitions since the early days of the war).
Before the distribution of the food aid; Ms. Juma stated that she along with her family collected firewood and sold it in the market. This was their only income source to purchase needed food. Unfortunately, firewood collection has recently become useless, and did not fill her and her family’s minimum food needs, which exacerbated her and her family’s health situation.
After receiving food aid that was distributed at the Directorate of  Aslam in the fourth quarter of 2016 in a food project implemented by the Yemen Family Care Association in partnership with the brothers Bridge Development Foundation, Mrs. Juma was certain , that such aid would save her and her family from certain doom, where she said that the aid has provided them with a great amount of neccessary food items. She then expressed her gratitude and how her family has been saved from certain starvation.
Mrs. Juma, also expressed her concerns about the lack of ability in the future to collect firewood and sell it as a result of the deterioration of her health condition day after day and the fear that the day will come when she becomes unable to provide her family's need of food. She hopes that the project does not stop.
