Ahlam , who is 35 years old, is a mother of five children. She lives in Khawlan, and she used to give birth at home. “In my last birth I felt severe pain, which it is not like any birth I had before, so my husband took me to a hospital near to our residence.” Ahlam said. After her condition evaluation in the nearest hospital to her residence, the doctor advised her to go to a well-equipped hospital because she was in a life-threatening condition and needed an urgent intervention. Therefore, they immediately directed her toward Alsabaeen hospital.
Alsabaeen Maternity and Childhood Hospital considered as the reference hospital in Amanah Alasemah, Sana’a governorate. The obstetric emergency of Alsabaeen Hospital provides various maternal, newborn and RH services (Antenatal care, postnatal care, family planning, normal delivery & C section). These services are available to the community by YFCA operational implementation and UNFPA fund. The hospital serves more than 90 cases per day, 2300 per month, and 28000 per year. The services aim to take more effective measures to address maternal and infant mortality.
Difficultly, she arrived to the hospital with her husband riding a motor bike due to lack of transportation facilities and fuel shortage. “I wish every woman could get such a qualified services near her residential area, and I hope that every woman gets enough awareness of the importance of regular follow-up throughout her pregnancy.” Ahlam mentioned. In addition, the baby was in a transverse lie position with an arm prolapsing from the vagina due to low amniotic fluid ,which made a natural vaginal birth difficult and impossible. After examination with ultrasound, the child had died. The urgent intervention to save the mother life was a must, so the gynecologist started a cesarean delivery to avoid uterine rupture.
“Thanks God, we saved her life and prevented any other possible complication.” The doctor stated.
“ I am grateful to Alsabaeen Hospital , and its specialists, saving my wife’s life which was a miracle. Thanks God” Ahlam’s Husband added
