GIVING HOPE AND SHELTER TO AN ABANDONED FAMILY

GIVING HOPE AND SHELTER TO AN ABANDONED FAMILY
Wednesday, 27 July, 2022

Samir Ahmed is thirty years old and a father of two girls. Samir’s family falls under the marginalized families of Khadir district, Taiz governorate. He and his family went through hard living conditions after getting their house destroyed due to the consistent conflict over Khadir district. They were forced to live in a wrecked house with no ceiling and no doors. They were putting on curtains instead of the doors and covering the ceiling with palm leaves. What made the situation hard to get fixed is that Samir’s income was just covering the very basic needs of his family. “Living in the wrecked house means to be at risk from all types of dangerous attacks such as poisonous insects and some kind of wild animals as well as being exposed to the harsh weather.” Samir said bitterly. “Once it gets dark, I see the fear in my children’s eyes. This obliged me to stay awake all night just to protect them and let them feel safe, so they can sleep. “He added.

Since living in privacy is fundamental, YFCA team, through the fund of YHF, has intervened in rehabilitating Samir’s house and converting it into a secured place to live. After this service was provided, Samir and his family obtained their humanitarian right of living in a private and secure house.

My family and I are so grateful for this intervention” Samir mentioned. “I don’t feel scared from night time anymore,” Samir’s daughter said gratefully.
