Iman who is 38 years old, is a teacher in one of the public schools in Amant alasemah district of Sana’a governorate. Her husband is an employee in one of the governmental departments with a very low salary. Due to salaries interruptions caused by the tragic situation in Yemen, Iman’s family’s economic situation deteriorated, forcing Iman to work in sewing. After ten years of her second baby’s delivery, she became pregnant with her third child, who she hoped God would honor her with a female child. During her sixth month of pregnancy, and within the medical review by her doctor at the Al-Sabeen Hospital, her doctor told her that she had severe infections that could affect her and her fetus. She was assured of her commitment to medication and her review upon completion of the medication because the presence of such infections could put her at risk of premature birth and could endanger her and her child’s lives. Because of their hard financial situation, Iman could not buy the required medicines and did not comply with the doctor's instructions.
In the middle of the eighth month, Iman was no longer able to bear the pain, despite the crucial discharging of the water. “I could no longer bear the pain it is not like any birth I had before,” Iman stated bitterly. She was rushed at 2 am to Al-Sabeen hospital, which is considered as the nearest affordable hospital in the area.
Al-Sabaeen Maternity and Childhood Hospital is also considered as the reference hospital in Amanah Alasemah, Sana’a governorate. The obstetric emergency of Al-Sabaeen Hospital provides various maternal, newborn and RH services (Antenatal care, postnatal care, family planning, normal delivery & C section). These services are available to the community through YFCA operational implementation and UNFPA fund. The hospital serves more than 90 cases per day, 2300 per month, and 28000 per year. The services aim to take more effective measures to address maternal and infant mortality.

Her critical condition and her unpleasant birth could lead her to lose her child and her life “Thanks to the presence of the qualified medical staff who transported her to the Caesarean Section and her life was saved and her child was transferred to the nursery appropriately”
After two weeks of following up on her and her child's condition, Iman got discharged from the hospital carrying her baby boy. All of whom were satisfied and grateful for Al-Sabaeen medical staff for saving her life.
