In recognition of the critical role of information in decision-making, YFCA established the Research Unit as its knowledge engine, supplying decision-makers with practical evidence that improves program design. We operate an end-to-end research cycle: from methodology and tool design, through field coordination, team training, data collection, quality assurance, and analysis, to decision-oriented reports with actionable recommendations, while upholding the highest standards of research ethics and quality control through field supervision and post-collection verification to ensure reliability.
The Unit delivers multi-sector evaluations, baseline and endline studies, health-facility readiness assessments, market and livelihoods surveys, and rapid assessments in emergencies. We apply mixed methods (quantitative and qualitative) and leverage digital technologies to obtain accurate data efficiently and at speed. The Unit maintains a nationwide network of trained researchers covering all Yemeni governorates, ensuring rapid access, broad geographic representation, and tight quality oversight.
We also collaborate with external partners, universities, research centers, and international organizations—to conduct joint studies, and we publish some of our knowledge products online (see samples attached). Our outputs include focused analytical reports across health and nutrition; water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH); food security and livelihoods; shelter/CCCM; education; protection; and climate change and resilience. Our studies have enhanced targeting and helped develop local value chains, while we have built the capacity of local partners in research methods and quality assurance to increase the sustainability of impact.
