In Al Dhale’e Governorate, Ensam, a mother of eight, transformed years of economic hardship into an opportunity for sustainable income through the BRIGHTLY project, implemented by Yemen Family Care Association (YFCA) with funding from the UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO). After receiving unconditional cash assistance to meet her family's immediate needs, Ensam joined an 11-day small business management training and launched a home-based sewing and embroidery business with the support of a livelihood grant. Equipped with new business skills and sewing equipment, she improved the quality of her products, expanded her customer base, and increased her family's financial stability. Ensam's journey demonstrates how combining humanitarian assistance with livelihood support empowers vulnerable families to build resilience, achieve self-reliance, and create lasting opportunities for a better future.
