n Mayfa’a District, Shabwah Governorate, Abdulsabour’s life changed dramatically after losing his leg, leaving him unable to provide for his family of nine. Through the BRIGHTLY Project, implemented by Yemen Family Care Association (YFCA) with funding from the UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO), his family first received unconditional cash assistance to meet their immediate needs. Building on this support, Abdulsabour completed training in sustainable livestock farming and received five cattle along with a business start-up grant to establish his own livelihood. Today, he has transformed from a humanitarian aid recipient into a livestock entrepreneur, restoring his family's income, dignity, and hope for the future. His story demonstrates how combining emergency assistance with sustainable livelihood opportunities empowers vulnerable families to achieve long-term resilience and self-reliance.
