Fatima is a fifty-year-old woman from the village of Beit Al-Faqih in the District of Hodaydah. She lives with her husband and six daughters under difficult living and economic conditions. Fatima suffers from many chronic diseases, especially stomach pains and chronic skin disease.
Fatima, whose brown face is characterized by harsh time lines and extreme poverty (the condition of most of the population in the region), has long been struggling with the disease, due to living conditions and the lack of a nearby health center.
When we asked her about her situation now, and after established the Abbasi Health Center in the Beit Al Faqih area by Yemen Family Care Association and with the support of OCHA, Fatima stated with the innocence of the people of the coast and the honesty of the residents of the friendly countryside of Hodaydah. This all has come as a very pleasant surprise to the people which was very visible through their behavior and expressions during their access to health services that are provided to them and the medicines and supplements that meet their needs and are provided to them for free.

“Frankly, my son, this center has been established in the most critical time, and a great humanitarian work is being done without money and they give us treatments for free. The doctors’ care so much about us, we are poor and helpless. My daughters and I come to the center frequently. Our neighbors and we did not believe that a center was being established here! And free of charge too! Until we came and witnessed it with our own eyes” says Fatima.

When we asked Fatima about her current health condition, she confirmed that her condition has improved greatly and that she has recovered from stomach pains and skin diseases that have been a nightmare to her for a long time.

“(Praise be to Allaah.) I am cured from the pain in my stomach, and now I am okay. I am also cured from my skin condition. Today I am back for a follow up visit with the doctor. You have done us such a blessing when you established this health center here” stated Fatima before the health worker at the center came over to ask her to come in to see the doctor.
