MOHAMMED: A KID WITH CHOLERA SYMPTOMS

The Bani Sobh Healath Centre in the district of Al-Hasha, Al Dhale governorate witnessed daily the influx of dozens of cases from nearby villages seeking for health services which all are provided free of charge, is funded by DFID and implemented by YFCA. The services include checkups, medications, labs and free drugs.

Mohammed Ziad, a child who has not yet completed his fourth year, and one of those who received health service at the center. Mohammed, by his mother, reached to the center of Bani Sobh, suffering from vomiting and severe diarrhea, as well as coughing and fever, which reached a high temperature of 38 degrees.

Mohammed's mother says she was afraid that her baby might have cholera, especially that the symptoms he showed indicate that he was infected with the malignant epidemic, which caused her a great psychological depress because of fear of losing him.

She added that once she arrived with her son, the necessary tests and antibiotics were given to her baby.

The healthcare providers in the center stated that major of the cases received by the center are people suffer from dehydration and malnutrition, in addition to suspected cases of cholera.
