In a remote area in the district of Sa’adah, the village of (Ould Abd)l is located in. The village embraces dozens of families in very harsh conditions because of the economic blockade and the war in Sa’adah governorate.
As a natural result of the blockade, war, lack of food and medicine scarcity, many epidemics and diseases spread over and do not exclude anyone, whether male or female, children or elderly adults, the most victims are children though.
(Murad) A child who has not yet completed his second year is one of dozens of malnourished children in the village. Since his birth, Murad has been suffering from acute malnutrition, his family does not know what to do as there is no health center or nearby hospital to go to. The family has lost any hope of his recovery and do not know what to give and how to take care of their baby, especially in the absence of medicines or appropriate foods, the only health center nearby is no longer functional. The security situation forced the caregivers to leave for fear of their lives from the war.
This health center has become deserted where everything were broken, the doors and windows were shattered, equipment that remains were no longer workable.
In response to this need, The Yemen Family Care Association (YFCA), funded by Yemen Humanitarian Fund (YHF) / OCHA has worked to rehabilitate the Naid Al Bareq Health Centre in the area to enable the center to receive the caseloads again and provide the necessary humanitarian health services for the underserved communities in the area.
In a record time, YFCA has completed the needed overhauled refurbishment of the center.
They family members start flowing to the center with their babies, children and others sought medications.
The family member of “Murad” has heard of this reopening so they reached to the center where the medical staff received the baby very carefully, giving him the needed care after checkups and examinations.
After seven months of continuous monitoring, Murad’s health condition was improved significantly and returned to normal healthy baby. Mourad's father, who has seen the great change in his son's health, says he is unable to express his thanks and gratitude for the work done by the staff at the health for his baby and the locals.
The residents also expressed their concern of the [catastrophic] consequences caused by the end of the support of the health center services scheduled by the end of October. They appealed to the association to continue to support the center, which provides great health services in exceptional and very difficult circumstances.
