Kareem Nasher is an 8-year old boy who lives in Taiz governorate. Kareem suffers from severe acute malnutrition due to financial constraints which did not allow the father to provide the needed food for his family.
In addition, the conflict in the area brought much distress including severe water shortages. Water supplies from the local water supply has stopped and the population were forced to obtain water from water wells in far areas. The water obtained was not safe for drinking and domestic use but it is the only option for many families.
Kareem suffers from intestinal, infectious diseases and diarrhea in addition to the malnutrition due to the consumption of contaminated water. After the installation of the new water distribution point by GIZ/YFCA in their area, water is now available, proximate and clean for consumption and domestic use. Kareem’s family is grateful for the water tanks provided. Reports now show that Kareem is recovering from the intestinal infection.
