Zahrah Ghaleb, who is a widowed housewife with five sons, was one of those families who were displaced to Marib Al-Wadi district. The family lives in a temporary shelter, which consists of two iron gratings (3*3) meters, including one of the blocks of the Al-Ma’asher camp, which has been managed by the International Organization for Migration for about two years. Zahra stated that these nets and shelter materials do not protect them from the summer heat or the winter cold. Moreover, the number of mattresses and blankets is not enough for the family members. They just have two mattresses and two blankets to be shared between them all. " My sons and I sleep next to each other on two mattresses and two blankets which are not enough to cover all of us, and I am unable to buy an adequate number of mattresses and blankets for my children," Zahra stated. “Also, we suffer from severe shortage of kitchen utensils, as we do not have enough plates and pots. Besides, we do not have gas to cook!” she added
Through the fund of YHF, and within the framework of providing the minimum integrated CCCM supportive interventions, Yemen Family Care Association (YFCA) targeted Zahra with a basic shelter kit which consists of a carton of kitchen utensils, two buckets of water, two mats, a solar lamp, and a local wood-burning stove. As well as providing her with a bedding kit, where the family was provided with mattresses and linens according to the number of its family members, in addition to two mats. The project team delivered the shelter assistance to Zahra’s inhabitation.
“Now, after helping us with shelter materials from Yemen Family Care Association, each member of my family will get his own mattress and blanket, a small part of the kitchen utensils needs was provided, which will help me in managing my home and feed my children.” Zahrah gratefully said.
