Within the vision of Yemen Family Care Association (YFCA) of maintaining personal and environmental hygiene to ensure a healthy lifestyle, as proper hygiene can save lives and protect people from deadly diseases, YFCA started the activity of Hygiene promotion awareness sessions in Al-Hazm district of Al-Jawf governorate. The activity was conducted by eight community volunteers; six females and two males starting from August 2022, and will continue until November 2022. The volunteers conducted this activity through door-to-door sessions, as well as targeting students in Al-Hajaria school.
The key hygiene promotion messages were explained in sessions as follows:
• Infectious diseases and water-borne diseases.
• Personal hygiene.
• Proper hand washing methods.
• Water purification and decontamination.
• Safe disposal of waste.
• Covid-19 precautionary procedures.
The number of attendees so far reached 516 individuals including women, men, boys and girls. Also, the sessions targeted IDPs, Marginalized, returnees and host communities.
This activity aims to raise awareness, among the target community, of water and health-related behaviors that reduce the incidence of water-borne diseases.
