Population Forum
Since 2010, YFCA-led Population Forum of Yemeni Civil Society incooperation with the United Nations Population Fund implemented advocacy activities towards better understanding of population issues in Yemen.
YFCA held the second annual meeting of the population forum during the period 45- December 2011 .The meeting was attended by more than 100 participants representing 60 civil society organizations, academia, government and experts in population issues in order to activate the role of NGOs in advocacy, planning, and implementation of population policies and programs. The forum also aimed at enhancing coordination and networking between these organizations tocontribute effectively to the stabilization of population as well as to mobilize resources and to attract funding for theimplementation of population policies.
YFCA undertook the process of coordination for a meeting and visiting of somemembers of the First Population Forum to the Parliament and the Shura Council. Forum members including YFCA have participated in discussions of the parliament on health insurance law.
Fifteen NGOs were trained in means to mainstream population issues into theirplans and programs. In addition, 20 young forum members were trained on life skills. Forum members participated in awareness-raising campaigns on early detection of breast cancer, STDs and AIDS.
