YFCA distributed 40 Emergency Shelter Kits (ESKs) to households affected by recent floods at Al Sha’ab camp in Al Buraiqa district, Aden governorate, in coordination with local authorities and with funding from Caritas Germany in partnership with CRS.
Each kit contained essential materials, selected to meet Shelter Cluster minimum technical standards. Special attention was given to fire-retardant materials and flood-adapted items to improve safety and durability in the camp’s high‑risk conditions.
YFCA’s shelter team provided on-site support, guidance materials, and demonstration sessions to ensure families could safely and effectively install their kits. Training covered secure fixing of plastic sheeting, safe use of tools, and simple measures to reduce flood and fire risks in temporary shelters.
This intervention is part of the “Rebuilding Lives: Urgent Shelter Solutions for Alsha’ab camps’ Flood-Impacted IDPs” project, which aims to restore safer, more resilient living conditions for internally displaced families in Al Buraiqa. Through partnerships with Caritas Germany and CRS, and close coordination with local authorities, YFCA continues to deliver timely, practical assistance to vulnerable households affected by natural hazards
