YFCA conducted two four-day trainings on Basic Financial Management for newly established Savings Groups in Mayfa'a District, starting 30 June, and Bayhan District, starting 6 July, in Shabwah Governorate. The trainings are being implemented under the Building Resilience through Integrated Community-Based and Humanitarian Systems Transformation and Leadership in Yemen (BRIGHTLY) Project. Funded by the UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO), the BRIGHTLY Project supports community-led initiatives that strengthen resilience, enhance livelihoods, and promote sustainable development across Yemen.
The trainings aimed to strengthen community resilience by enhancing participants' financial management capacities and promoting community-based savings mechanisms. A total of 32 participants gained practical skills in financial literacy, savings group management, financial record-keeping, governance, and internal regulations. They also established their groups' organizational structures by defining members' roles and responsibilities and electing leadership positions.
Through this initiative, YFCA seeks to strengthen the capacity of community members to effectively manage Savings Groups, promote sound financial management practices, and support sustainable livelihoods.
