YFCA conducted a three-day training on humanitarian innovation methodologies from 16–18 August 2026 under the Humanitarian System Transformation through Local Humanitarian Leadership (HST-LHL) project, funded by Oxfam and implemented in partnership with the Response Innovation Lab (RIL).
The training brought together more than 32 participants from local and national humanitarian organizations across Aden, Abyan, Hadhramout, Marib, and Taiz Governorates, representing 11 local organizations and associations. Participants included women-led organizations, organizations working with persons with disabilities, local BRIGHTLY partners, and humanitarian actors engaged in innovation-related work.
The training aimed to strengthen participants’ understanding of humanitarian innovation and enhance their capacity to apply practical innovation tools and methodologies in humanitarian programming. It also provided a platform for participants to exchange experiences, generate ideas, and explore locally driven solutions to complex humanitarian challenges.
The activity contributes to the project’s second outcome, “More Risk-Informed and Safe Humanitarian Systems,” by strengthening the capacity of local humanitarian actors to identify challenges, test new approaches, and develop solutions that respond to local needs and realities.
The training follows the 2026 HST-LHL launch workshop, which brought together local and national organizations as well as humanitarian and development stakeholders to introduce the project’s priorities and strengthen collaboration around locally led humanitarian action.
Through the HST-LHL project, YFCA and its partners continue to support local humanitarian organizations in strengthening their leadership, promoting innovation, and developing practical approaches that contribute to a more effective, locally led, and sustainable humanitarian response in Yemen.
