The training was aimed to enhance the knowledge of participants on Gender-based Violence (GBV) in humanitarian context and boost the skills of participants in providing medical services for GBV survivors and in deploying modern tools and materials in the treatment of GBV.  

As per UNFPA the number of reported GBV in Yemen for the period between March 2015 and March 2016 was 7,241, however this number might not represent the actual number as many cases are nor reported to official authorities for the social considerations and stigma.

In its paper presented in the workshop, UNFPA stated that in such volatile situation women, girls and children are the most vulnerable groups for different types of violence including physical violence, domestic violence and early marriage and resource depriving.

It is worth mention that in the past year UNFPA in partnership with YFCA, several healthcare workers were trained on CMR, however because of the recent events, there are still a need to conduct more similar trainings including work methodologies.
