May 30, 2021- Sana’a, Yemen: The Safe Motherhood Specialized Hospital (SMSH), the YFCA’s affiliated community hospital, has received new baby incubators generously donated from the Union of Medical Care and Relief Organizations (UOSSM).
UOSSM is a medical humanitarian organization, that provides medical relief, emergency lifesaving aid, and quality healthcare to those affected by crisis.
As part of Yemen Family Care Association (YFCA)’s Safe Motherhood project 2002-2007, Safe Motherhood Specialized Hospital (SMSH) was established in 2004 by a generous support from the British Community Fund, Japan government and AGFUND. YFCA SMSH was equipped with new and advanced medical equipment and appliances. The hospital is also equipped with an ambulance to transport complicated cases from the rural districts to the hospital to ensure timely lifesaving.
YFCA SMSH is considered as an integral part of the successful YFCA financial sustainability policy of income-generating projects to cover the core operating costs of the hospital besides refinancing expenditure. YFCA SMSH with its affiliated family planning centers delivers quality family planning and sexual and reproductive healthcare to hundreds of thousands of poor and vulnerable women at nominal and affordable prices. The SMSH’s services include, but not limited to: maternal and child healthcare, safe delivery obstetrics and ante and post-natal care; diagnosis and treatment of sexually transmitted infections.
