YFCA conducts water quality surveillance for vulnerable communities in Aldale and Sada’a Govs.

YFCA, in collaboration with the YHF, has successfully conducted a comprehensive WASH needs assessment in two targeted districts (Damt and current state of WASH needs, identify gaps, and develop effective response strategies.

Under the framework of promoting public hygiene and community participation, YFCA organized a specialized training course for 20 dedicated volunteers, comprising 10 males and 10 females. These volunteers were nominated by the Local Water and Sanitation Corporation in Damt District. The training equipped them with the necessary knowledge and skills to conduct impactful awareness and education sessions on hygiene promotion.

The importance of proper handwashing techniques, including duration and timing, has been emphasized during the sessions. Additionally, participants have received guidance on water storage practices at home and ways to prevent diseases like cholera. These educational initiatives have proven invaluable, as people in the region are in dire need of such knowledge to protect themselves and their communities.

The trained volunteers have been actively engaging with communities in Damt and Juban districts of Aldhale’e Governorate, raising awareness on critical topics such as self-hygiene, the dangers of infectious diseases, and the precautions to combat COVID-19. Since July 2022, these sessions have reached approximately 1,252 beneficiaries, empowering them with vital information to safeguard their health and well-being.

YFCA remains committed to promoting public hygiene and environmental sanitation. Through the diligent efforts of trained volunteers, supported by YFCA and YHF, the campaign for improved hygiene practices continues to make a positive impact on the lives of vulnerable individuals in Yemen.
