Friday, 18 August, 2023

YFCA has been conducting water quality surveillance for the most acutely vulnerable internally displaced persons (IDPs) and host communities, including persons with disabilities (PWDs), in Damt, Juban, and Qatabah districts of Al-Dhale governorate and Baqim district of Sa’ada governorate. This activity is part of the project “Provision of emergency, life-saving, and resilient WASH assistance for the most acutely vulnerable IDPs and host communities, including PWDs”, funded by the Yemen Humanitarian Fund (YHF).
The aim of this activity is to ensure the provision of sustainable, safe drinking and domestic water for 45,251 beneficiaries in the targeted districts. To achieve this, YFCA has been conducting regular water testing, including pH, turbidity, and bacteriological analysis, for community water sources and household samples. The water testing is done by trained water quality monitors and volunteers using water testing devices and laboratory services.
From May to July 2023, YFCA reached 2,517 beneficiaries with this activity, empowering them to access clean and safe water and prevent waterborne diseases. The beneficiaries expressed their appreciation to YFCA for improving their health and well-being. They also said that the project enhanced their awareness and knowledge of water quality and treatment methods.
YFCA’s dedicated efforts not only improve the living conditions of the beneficiaries but also contribute to the achievement of Sustainable Development Goal 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation). YFCA is committed to inspiring change and making a difference in the lives of the people in Yemen.
