YFCA hosts UN assessment team in Marib to discuss the situation of IDPs

YFCA welcomed the UN joint agencies assessment team for the situation of displaced people at its office in Marib governorate on Tuesday, August 1, 2023. The team was headed by Mr. Louis Sida, who visited several camps and organizations in the governorate to evaluate their needs and performance.

The meeting, aimed to review the projects and interventions of YFCA's programs in Marib governorate since 2021, both sustainable and emergency. The meeting also discussed the emergency and sustainable needs of the displaced people, the level of coordination among the partners of the local and international organizations and the local authorities, and the challenges and opportunities for funding and cooperation.

YFCA’s team in Marib governorate gave a brief overview of YFCA programs in Marib governorate, which include water and sanitation, shelter, health, and MEAL projects. The team also highlighted the achievements and challenges of YFCA in delivering humanitarian assistance to the most vulnerable people in Marib governorate.

Mr. Louis Sida shared his observations and recommendations from visiting seven camps for displaced people in Marib Governorate. As YFCA is a member of the ICVA group, he sought insights into crucial long-term interventions for the displaced. YFCA's team proposed sustainable projects covering shelter, water, health, protection, education, and food security to address the needs of the displaced population.

During the meeting, the team elaborated for Mr. Louis the coordination mechanism YFCA follows, which goes through two tracks: one between the general administration of YFCA and partners, and another one between the YFCA office in Marib governorate and partners, clusters, and local authorities.

In conclusion, the meeting between YFCA and the UN joint agencies assessment team concluded with a commitment to continue addressing the critical needs of displaced people in Marib governorate. The discussions will guide further collaboration and strategic planning for implementing sustainable projects and providing essential support to the affected communities. Together, YFCA, the UN agencies, and their partners aim to enhance the well-being and resilience of the displaced population in Marib governorate.
