YFCA has participated in the MENA Regional Technical Forum on Cash and Voucher Assistance (CVA), which was held virtually on September 14, 2023. The forum was attended by representatives from local and international NGOs, UN agencies, donors, the private sector, academia, and research institutions. During this event, YFCA team shared their experiences in mitigating and adapting to climate change through the cash-for-work activities implemented in several governorates of Yemen.
The cash-for-work activities aim to enhance the resilience of vulnerable households and communities by providing them with CVA to improve their food security and encouraging them to participate in labor-intensive public works, such as rehabilitating water sources, building gabions, planting trees, cleaning campaigns, and rehabilitation of roads. These activities not only improve access to basic services and infrastructure but also contribute to environmental protection and natural resource management and reduce the risk of climate change in Yemen.
This forum is an opportunity for YFCA and other CVA practitioners in the MENA region to exchange knowledge, learn from best practices, discuss challenges and opportunities, and identify ways to improve the quality and scale of humanitarian CVA.
