YFCA Implements Cash-for-Work Activity in Al-Dhalea Governorate

YFCA implemented the Cash-for-Work (CFW) activity, in Hoorat Ghaniya, a region located in Al-Azariq District, Al-Dhalea Governorate, as part of the project: Provision of integrated essential health, FSL, and WASH services to the IDPs and the other vulnerable groups in Al-Abdiyah district of Marib gov.  This activity aims to alleviate the economic struggles faced by the community and enhance their resilience.
This significant step was taken towards addressing poverty in Hoorat Ghaniya, along with its surrounding villages, has been grappling with an alarming poverty rate of 91%. The absence of reliable income sources, compounded by various climatic and economic challenges, has exacerbated the hardships faced by the residents. Recent floods have further damaged roads and agricultural lands, intensifying the issue of malnutrition in the area. The CFW activity focuses on the construction and improvement of infrastructure in the area, by paving 1,300 square meters of rugged road and constructing supporting walls totaling 370 m3. By engaging the local community in these construction activities, the YFCA not only addresses immediate employment needs but also creates a sense of ownership and involvement among the residents. In addition to employment opportunities, the YFCA is providing monthly assistance of 150,000 riyals to 150 family heads for a duration of five months. This financial support, coupled with valuable vocational skills training, forms part of a comprehensive livelihood strategy. The impact of the project extends beyond economic benefits. The rehabilitated road will improve accessibility to essential services for the impoverished communities of Hoorat Ghaniya. It will facilitate easier transportation to markets and the governorate center, reducing travel time and fuel consumption. In addition to the better access to healthcare services, particularly benefiting pregnant women who will have increased opportunities to reach hospitals for necessary care and well-being. The YFCA's implementation of the CFW activity in Hoorat Ghaniya demonstrates their commitment to addressing poverty and fostering resilience within vulnerable communities. By creating employment opportunities, improving infrastructure, and providing essential support, the YFCA is making a tangible difference in the lives of the residents. The organization remains dedicated to implementing sustainable interventions that empower communities and alleviate poverty in Yemen.
