Enhancing Community Resilience: YFCA Conducts Specialized Training for Flood Prevention and Camp Assessment
Friday, 24 November, 2023

YFCA conducted a training workshop for 14 community committees on flood prevention and data collection for camp assessments. This training is part of the project “Provision of WASH and CCCM emergency flood-response and preparedness interventions for the most acutely vulnerable IDPs and host communities in Al-Mtoon and Alhazm districts of Aljawf Governorate.
The training aimed to equip committee members with the necessary knowledge and skills to effectively address the challenges posed by floods and contribute to the overall safety and well-being of the camps.
In addition to flood prevention strategies, the committees were trained on effective data collection techniques for camp assessments. They learned how to gather relevant data regarding the camps’ vulnerabilities, infrastructure conditions, and population demographics. This data will be crucial for evaluating the camps’ preparedness and identifying areas that require improvement in terms of flood protection measures.
This initiative underscores the YFCA’s tendency to strengthen community resilience and disaster preparedness in the face of increasing climate-related challenges. It highlights the importance of community involvement and capacity building in disaster risk reduction and management.
