YFCA initiated a series of solid waste collection and disposal campaigns in Haridah district of Hadramut Governorate. The campaigns aimed to address the lack of solid waste management services, which led to the indiscriminate disposal of domestic garbage in open areas, posing significant health risks and increasing the likelihood of water-borne diseases and other health-related issues. Funded by Muslim Aid and UMCOR, YFCA plans to conduct a total of nine solid waste collection and disposal campaigns over three months. These campaigns will target internally displaced persons (IDP) sites and surrounding host communities in the Haridah district. The cleaning campaigns will be carried out in collaboration with the Public Works and Highways Office, with YFCA providing support in terms of tools, fuel, and incentives for 15 cleaning workers. The primary objective of these campaigns is to create a clean and healthy living environment for IDPs and host communities, thereby reducing the risk of disease outbreaks and other health-related issues. By addressing the inadequate solid waste management practices, YFCA aims to improve the overall humanitarian conditions in Hadramawt Governorate. This initiative by YFCA highlights the importance of addressing WASH needs in conflict-affected areas and demonstrates the organization's commitment to improving public health and hygiene in Yemen.
