YFCA has joined and co-chaired the Locally Led Response (LLR) Community of Practice (CoP) in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. The CoP is a platform for local actors to share experiences, challenges, and best practices on locally-led humanitarian response, which aims to empower local communities and organizations to have more decision-making power and access to resources in adapting to the effects of crises. The CoP, which is facilitated by the Cash Learning Partnership (CALP), has been conducting monthly meetings, with the participation of local and national NGOs, donors, consortia, and other stakeholders from across the region. The format of the meetings will change throughout this year, with at least two meetings conducted entirely in Arabic, and two meetings conducted with the other two MENA CoPs “Linking CVA with Social Protection CoP and the Multi-Purpose Cash Assistance CoP”. By joining and co-chairing, the CoP, YFCA hopes to contribute to the global movement for locally-led adaptation and resilience and to learn from the experiences of other local actors in the region.
