Rakyah, Hadramaut Governorate, Yemen - Yemen Family Care Association (YFCA) recently inaugurated a rehabilitated water well in the Lenf area, providing a reliable and uninterrupted supply of safe water to approximately 3,500 beneficiaries. This project is part of the larger initiative, "Provision of Humanitarian Integrated WASH and FSL Assistance for the Most Acutely Vulnerable IDPs and Host Communities, Including PWD," funded by Muslim Aid and UMCOR. The project involved installing a new submersible pumping unit, control device, sensors, and valves to ensure efficient water extraction and control. Additionally, a 7,000-watt solar energy system was installed to power the well sustainably. To protect the system from external threats, a fence was constructed around it. The project also included the rehabilitation of the project rooms to create a suitable environment for maintaining the well. This initiative by YFCA, Muslim Aid, and UMCOR demonstrates their commitment to addressing the critical water needs of vulnerable communities in Yemen. It not only provides essential resources but also fosters sustainable development and resilience in the region.
