Shabwah and Ad Dali’ –
YFCA conducted a series of 160 hygiene promotion awareness sessions across two districts in Shabwah Governorate and three districts in Ad Dali’ Governorate during June. These sessions, led by 20 dedicated community hygiene volunteers, reached a remarkable 1,884 individuals, including women, men, and children from various communities such as internally displaced persons (IDPs), the marginalized, returnees, and host communities.
This initiative is part of the broader Multi-sectoral Emergency Response project, aimed at supporting IDPs and other vulnerable groups in the region. The project is generously funded by the German Federal Foreign Office (AA) in partnership with Diakonie Katastrophenhilfe (DKH).
The educational sessions focused on critical topics such as:
• The dangers of cholera and watery diarrhea
• Transmission and prevention of infectious diseases
• Safe water storage and purification methods
• Waste disposal practices
• The importance of hand washing and personal hygiene
YFCA’s efforts are not only educational but also instrumental in fostering health-related behavioral changes within the community. The association’s commitment to improving access to safe drinking water and reducing disease incidence in health centers is a testament to their dedication to the well-being of Yemen’s citizens.
