Ad Dali’, Yemen – In a concerted effort to combat the ongoing cholera outbreak, YFCA, in coordination with the health office in Ad Dali’ governorate, has ramped up support for Acute Watery Diarrhea (AWD) patients. This initiative is part of a broader project titled “Integrated and Multisectoral Health and WASH Rapid Response to Cholera Outbreak in Al Azariq district,” funded by Diakonie Katastrophenhilfe (DKH). The project aims to address the cholera outbreak through a comprehensive response that includes surveillance, case management, infection control, and public health interventions.

This initiative is being implemented at the Diarrhea Treatment Center (DTC) located within the De Al-Jalal Maternity and Childcare Health Center in Al Azariq district. The DTC has been bolstered with essential medicines, medical equipment, infection prevention and control (IPC) supplies, and information, education, and communication (IEC) materials. Additionally, allowances have been provided to 16 healthcare workers deployed to manage the center. As a result, the DTC has successfully treated 658 beneficiaries during July and August 2024.

The primary goal of this emergency project is to prevent the further spread of cholera and mitigate its impact on the affected communities in Ad Dali’ Governorate. By prioritizing effective and targeted responses, the YFCA and its partners are working diligently to safeguard public health and ensure the well-being of the local population.
