YFCA Works  on Enhancing Sanitation Services for community and PWDs in Ad-Dali
Friday, 21 March, 2025

YFCA embarked on a crucial initiative to construct 72 emergency latrines and 24 latrines specifically designed for Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) in Al Azariq District, Ad-Dali’ Governorate. This activity is part of the Multi-sectoral Emergency Response aimed at supporting Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) and other vulnerable groups in Ad Dali’ and Shabwah Governorates, Yemen project. The intervention is funded by the German Federal Foreign Ministry (AA) in partnership with Diakonie-Katastrophenhilfe (DKH).
Addressing the community's urgent need for sanitation and hygiene facilities, these latrines serve as a critical intervention to enhance safety, privacy, and dignity, particularly for vulnerable populations. They provide access to safe sanitation services, contributing to environmental protection and significantly reducing the spread of diseases and waterborne infections, including acute watery diarrhea, in the long term.
The intervention involved the construction of various latrines, all equipped with the necessary tools to serve the communities and ensure their dignity and privacy. These facilities include features such as western toilets, faucets, internal plumbing, solar-powered lighting systems, and accessibility options for Persons with Disabilities (PWDs).
This initiative marks a significant step towards improving the living conditions and health outcomes for vulnerable populations in Yemen, demonstrating the commitment of YFCA and its partners to fostering a safer and more dignified environment for all.
