YFCA launched a hygiene awareness initiative as part of the "Provision of life-saving and life-sustaining multisectoral interventions to the most vulnerable groups in Abs and Khayran Al Muharraq districts" project. Funded by the Yemen Humanitarian Fund (YHF), this program aimed to support vulnerable populations in IDP camps and host communities.
In May 2025, community volunteers conducted 20 hygiene awareness sessions, reaching a total of 314 individuals. These sessions emphasized the importance of personal and public hygiene, neighborhood cleanliness, and safe waste disposal, all of which are essential for enhancing community health. Since the project's commencement in April 2025, a total of 643 beneficiaries have engaged with the initiative.
The project highlighted community involvement as a crucial component in promoting behavior change. With the dedication of ten volunteers, the initiative aimed to educate residents and encourage effective hygiene practices. The sessions are scheduled to continue over the next six months, ensuring that vital hygiene messages are disseminated throughout the community.
As the initiative unfolds, it becomes increasingly clear that raising awareness about hygiene practices is crucial for enhancing the health and well-being of the most vulnerable groups in Hajjah governorate.
