YFCA launched significant steps to bolster agricultural practices in Yemen through its recent five-day Training of Trainers (ToT) program aimed at Community Extension Agents and role model farmers. This vital initiative was held in Yab'uth District of Hadramawt Governorate and is part of the Accelerating Food Security in Yemen (AFSY) project, implemented in partnership with Mercy Corps.
The training aimed to equip participants with the essential skills and knowledge necessary to train smallholder farmers in Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) and Climate-Smart Agriculture (CSA). During the program, participants learned effective training techniques and knowledge transfer skills, as well as the implementation and management of farmer field schools as practical learning tools. The curriculum also covered integrated pest management and agricultural value chains, both crucial for improving productivity and resilience against climate change.
A representative from YFCA stated, “This training is a vital step in empowering our community extension agents and role model farmers. By investing in their skills, we are ultimately investing in the future of food security in Yemen.”
