The Comprehensive and Integrated Response to Address Malnutrition (CIRAM) project is funded by DFID and implemented by a couple of organizations under an ACTED-managed consortium, the consortium members are: Yemen Family Care Association (YFCA), ADRA and Handicap International (HI). The project lasts for three years from April 2017 to April 2020.
 
The project includes an integrated health and nutrition activities targeting a number of districts in two governorates selected after a through and thoughtful assessment. In Al Dhale governorate, the project targets Damt, Al Hasha and Juban while in Sa’adah governorate, Saqeen, Haydan, Munabeh and Kitaf are targeted.  
 
Project activities include:
  • Support health centers with the needed qualified medical staff and providing medicines and medical supplies to meet the needs of the residents of the targeted and neighboring areas, as well as providing clean water to each health center around the clock.
  • Formulating two teams- health and nutrition- for each district.  The assignments of the two vary between the work in the health center and on outreach activities which entails moving between the respective villages of the district through mobile medical units for certain scheduled days in the week to provide health and nutrition services to the widest range of population especially those who cannot access health centers for any reason, especially children, elderly and people with special needs.
 • Support and establish internal and external units to address malnutrition in each center.
In addition, the donor has been keen to provide a special support for the emergency response activities of the cholera epidemic in Al Dhale governorate in the districts of Damt and Al Hasha, where many suspected cases of the disease during the previous period were recorded. These activities include the support and establishment of two permanent health centers to treat Acute Watery Diarrhea (AWD); in addition to the establishment of 10 Oral Rehydration Corners (ORCs) dispersed through the districts
