YFCA launches cleaning campaigns in Damt and Juban districts to combat indiscriminate garbage dumping in public areas"
Wednesday, 17 May, 2023

YFCA has launched a series of cleaning campaigns in Damt and Juban districts, as part of the YHF#22761 project, aimed at addressing the indiscriminate disposal of domestic garbage in undesignated open areas. This practice poses a significant health hazard, increasing the risk of waterborne diseases and other health-related issues, especially among the millions of displaced people in Yemen who are in dire need of adequate WASH services.
The campaigns will be conducted three times a month for six months in IDP sites and surrounding host communities in the districts of Damt and Juban. The cleaning activities will include garbage collection, waste disposal, and other necessary steps to promote better hygiene practices. YFCA will provide tools, fuel, and incentives for 50 cleaning workers for six months, and the campaigns will be conducted in collaboration with the Hygiene and Improvement Fund.
The YFCA's campaigns are part of the broader YHF#22761 project, which aims to provide better living conditions for IDPs and host communities in the Al-Dahle'e and Saddah Gov by improving access to WASH services. The campaigns are expected to benefit thousands of people, promoting a cleaner and healthier living environment and reducing the risk of disease outbreaks.

The launch event was attended by Aldhale’e governor, the manager of the Hygiene and Improvement Fund in the governorate, SCMCHA representative, and other stakeholders, who expressed their satisfaction with the valuable efforts and great interventions made by YFCA to improve the lives of those affected by the ongoing conflict in Yemen.
