As part of the project “Promotion of Preventive and Lifesaving Nutrition Intervention", YFCA conducted a five-day refresher training for 94 health workers on Community Management of Acute Malnutrition approaches (CMAM) and Infant and Young Child Feeding (IYCF) counseling in Al Taweelah and Ar Rujum Districts, Al Mahweet Governorate.
The training was held under the supervision of the Ministry of Public Health and Population and Al Mahweet Health Office in partnership with the World Food Program (WFP). It was designed to enhance the health workers’ knowledge of CMAM and IYCF best practices.
The Community Management of Acute Malnutrition approach was designed to identify and manage acute malnutrition in children under five years of age. This includes screening, treatment, and follow-up of children with acute malnutrition. The training equipped health workers with the necessary skills to implement this approach effectively. Where the IYCF counseling training focused on promoting appropriate feeding practices for infants and young children, including exclusive breastfeeding and complementary feeding.
YFCA's efforts to improve the nutrition and health of residents in Al Mahweet Governorate are commendable. The training is expected to significantly impact the health of children and mothers in the region. YFCA remains committed to implementing programs that promote health and nutrition in Yemen and looks forward to continuing its partnership with the Ministry of Public Health and Population, Al Mahweet Health Office, and the World Food Program.
