YFCA has provided the first round of cash assistance to 300 targeted households in three areas in Ar Rawdah district ( Qarn Ba-Mahriz, Al-Nabwah, and Lamater) of Shabwah Governorate through its Cash For Work CFW activity. The activity is part of the ongoing Yemen Hunger Crisis Response project, funded by Diakonie Katastrophenhilfe (DKH), and aims to combat the food insecurity crisis in Yemen.
Each beneficiary household received an amount of 144,700 Yemeni Rials, according to the FSAC-approved transfer value and the attendance number of working days. The beneficiaries participated in gabions construction and rehabilitation and building of an agricultural irrigation canal at three selected areas in Ar Rawdah district. The CFW activity not only provides a source of income to the beneficiaries but also improves access to water for agricultural purposes.
The CFW activity aims to ensure that households in targeted communities are better able to meet their basic food needs through cash assistance, promote early action and response and resilience, help bridge the gap in food security, deliver timely and dignified food assistance, and provide skills training through participation in CFW interventions. Through its humanitarian and development programs, YFCA plays a crucial role in promoting sustainable development, social justice, and human rights in Yemen.
The timely and dignified delivery of food assistance is crucial to ensure that vulnerable people in Yemen can access essential food and improve their food consumption scores. Despite the challenges posed by the ongoing conflict and humanitarian crisis in Yemen, YFCA's intervention in providing cash assistance to vulnerable households through the CFW activity is a ray of hope for the affected communities. By working closely with local authorities and community committees, YFCA is also promoting community participation and empowerment in addressing the root causes of poverty and vulnerability.
