YFCA has taken a step forward to alleviate food insecurity in the country, by providing the second round of cash assistance to 200 households in Bayhan district of Shabwah Governorate. The beneficiaries were selected based on their meeting the targeting criteria for the Unconditional Cash Transfer (UCT) activity, which is part of the ongoing Yemen Hunger Crisis Response project funded by DKH.
YFCA distributed the cash assistance through Focal Service Provider (FSP) distribution points, in coordination with local authorities and Community Committees (CCs) in Bayhan district. Each beneficiary household received 131,500 YER, to help them to meet their basic food needs and improve their food security situation.
The UCT activity aims to ensure that households in targeted communities are better able to meet their basic food needs through cash assistance and to promote early action, response, and resilience by integrating food assistance with livelihood activities. The cash assistance provided by YFCA is expected to help the most vulnerable groups bridge the gap in their food security situation, increase their access to essential food, and improve the food consumption scores of the targeted household members.
YFCA's intervention is a significant step towards addressing food insecurity in Yemen, and it highlights the importance of coordinated efforts from NGOs, local authorities, and community committees to tackle this crisis. The timely and dignifying delivery of food assistance is crucial to ensure that vulnerable people in Yemen can access essential food and improve their food consumption scores.
