Thursday, 28 September, 2023

YFCA has completed repairing and rehabilitating Qarn Ba Mihrez well asset in Ar Rawdah district, located in the Shabwah Governorate of Yemen. The project, implemented as part of the ongoing WASH and humanitarian food assistance initiative, aims to provide safe drinking water to the affected communities. The Qarn Ba Mihrez water asset restoration project was carried out in collaboration with German Humanitarian Assistance (AA) and Diakonie Katastrophenhilfe (DKH), who provided funding and support.
Qarn Ba Mihrez water assets underwent extensive repairs and upgrades, including the installation of a solar-powered system with a motor and submersible water pump. YFCA also implemented necessary safety measures by constructing protection walls around the well and rehabilitating the engine room. To ensure the cleanliness of the water supply, a chlorine injection device was installed, working in conjunction with the solar system.
Thanks to these efforts, an estimated 1,800 beneficiaries, including internally displaced persons (IDPs), host communities, returnees, and marginalized groups, now have access to safe and clean water. This vital intervention will significantly contribute to reducing the spread of water-related epidemics and diseases, enhancing the community's overall well-being.
YFCA's dedication to addressing the water crisis in Ar Rawdah district is a testament to their tireless efforts in providing essential services to those in need. This achievement marks a significant milestone in the ongoing mission to ensure access to safe and sustainable drinking water for the people of Shabwah Governorate.
