In a significant move to enhance public health and hygiene, YFCA, funded by YHF, successfully distributed essential hygiene kits to 600 beneficiaries across three districts as part of the Provision of Emergency, Life-saving, and Resilient WASH Assistance for the Most Acutely Vulnerable IDPs and Host Communities, Including PWD project. The activity, executed in two phases, aimed to provide basic and consumable hygiene kits to internally displaced persons (IDPs), vulnerable individuals, and host communities.
The beneficiaries were meticulously nominated and verified based on the criteria set by the World Health Organization (WHO). YFCA obtained the nomination lists from the Local Public Health Office in each district and trained community volunteers to reach out to individuals who met the WHO criteria and were deemed eligible for assistance.
The first round of distributions took place in October, where beneficiaries received both basic and consumable hygiene kits. The basic hygiene kits included 2 kilograms of washing soap powder, 10 pieces of 75g hand soap, 6 sanitary napkins, and jerry cans of 10 and 20 liters. These kits aimed to address fundamental hygiene needs and provide the necessary tools for maintaining cleanliness.
Building upon the initial distribution, the second round took place in December, focusing on providing two consumable hygiene kits to each of the 600 beneficiaries. These kits contained 10 soap bars of 75g, 2 kilograms of washing soap powder, and 6 sanitary napkins.
The initiative sought to improve the overall hygiene practices and living conditions of the beneficiaries, especially considering the challenging circumstances faced in Yemen. Access to proper hygiene resources plays a crucial role in preventing the spread of diseases and maintaining good health.
This initiative underscores YFCA’s commitment, alongside its partners, to bolster public health and hygiene in Yemen through the execution of such activities.
