YFCA Makes Strides in Enhancing Healthcare Accessibility in Hadramaut Gov.
Monday, 01 January, 2024

YFCA made a significant stride towards enhancing healthcare accessibility, as part of the project “Provision of Lifesaving MSP Healthcare Services and Personal Hygiene Promotion Activities to Most Vulnerable People in Huraidhah and Rakhyah districts of Hadramaut governorate”, funded by Muslim Aid UK (MAUK), which offers primary healthcare services successfully catered to 9,163 beneficiaries across three health facilities. These services include Integrated Management of Childhood Illness (IMCI), Expanded Program on Immunization (EPI), Antenatal care (ANC), Postnatal care (PNC), and Family Planning (FP). The facilities involved are Huraidhah Hospital in Huraidhah district, Rakhyah Health Center, and Amba’a Health Unit in the Rakhyah district. Among the beneficiaries, 6,236 individuals availed of medical consultation services, and around 472 children were provided with essential vaccination services. The project prioritized Essential Reproductive Health (RH) services, with 1,476 beneficiaries accessing services such as Family Planning, Antenatal care, Deliveries, and Postnatal care. Furthermore, over 979 children benefited from the project’s emphasis on the integrated management of childhood illness (IMCI). In December 2023, YFCA, provided a gynecologist to the Rakhyah Health Center on Sundays and Mondays each week to cater to the urgent need for healthcare services in the Rakhyah district, focusing on women’s health and obstetrics. This initiative aims to alleviate the burden faced by patients and their families who previously had to travel over 100 kilometers to access healthcare for pregnant women, including antenatal care services, safe delivery services, and postnatal care services for mothers. The project substantially contributed to enhancing healthcare accessibility in the districts of Huraidhah and Rakhyah. By prioritizing primary and reproductive health services, the project has effectively addressed immediate health concerns and invested in the long-term health and well-being of the community. The success of this project serves as a commendable model for future healthcare initiatives, demonstrating the potential for transformative change in the face of adversity. It underscores the power of dedicated collaboration and targeted intervention in making healthcare accessible to all, irrespective of geographical constraints.
