YFCA completed the localization project funded by the Dutch Relief Alliance (DRA). The project aimed to enhance the institutional capacity of nine local non-governmental organizations (NGOs) working in the humanitarian sector in Yemen.
The project consisted of five main activities that were conducted in parallel and complemented each other. These activities were:
• An internship program that enabled 58 employees from the targeted NGOs to gain practical experience and skills from six international and national partners of DRA.
• An online training program that covered various domains such as human resources, project management, finance, logistics, procurement, monitoring, evaluation, accountability, and learning (MEAL).
• A consultancy service that reviewed and improved the existing policies, forms, and procedures of the nine NGOs and provided them with full training on the new inputs through workshops by a consultancy company (MOORE).
• A training package that covered topics such as risk management, accountability to affected populations (AAP) in proposal writing, and needs assessments, as well as a five-day training on enhancing formal and effective communication within the humanitarian context by external trainers.
• A portal 365 service package that included a year subscription and a full proposal writing training using the portal itself.
The project also organized three workshops on equitable partnership, power imbalances, and the final localization project, as well as several MEAL activities to monitor and evaluate the project’s progress and impact.
The project was part of YFCA's efforts to support the localization agenda in the humanitarian sector, which aims to empower local actors and ensure that they have a greater role and voice in the humanitarian response.
