YFCA Launches a New Project to Improve Health, Nutrition, and WASH in Marib And Aljawf

YFCA held a Project Kick-off Meeting for its new project in Alwadi District, Marib Governorate, The project, funded by Yemen Humanitarian Fund (YHF), aims to provide integrated life-saving health, nutrition, and water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) interventions for the most vulnerable communities in Marib and Aljawf governorates.
The project targets 52,124 individuals, including internally displaced persons (IDPs) and host communities, especially women and children, who are facing acute humanitarian needs due to the ongoing conflict and cholera outbreak in Yemen. The project will last for 10 months and will cover two governorate: Ma’rib Al Wadi in Marib and Khab wa ASha’f in Aljawf. The project will adopt a multi-sectoral approach, delivering essential services such as primary health care, cholera outbreak response, reproductive health, mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS), and more. The project will also implement nutrition activities, such as community-based management of acute malnutrition, infant and young child feeding (IYCF) support, and the establishment of support groups for caregivers. Furthermore, the project will conduct WASH interventions, such as water trucking, hygiene awareness campaigns, construction of latrines, and distribution of hygiene kits, to improve the living conditions and well-being of the affected communities. The Project Kick-off Meeting was attended by government officials, YFCA staff, and community representatives, who expressed their support and appreciation for the project. YFCA team also discussed the project objectives, activities, indicators, and implementation plan, as well as the roles and responsibilities of the stakeholders and the coordination mechanisms.
