Friday, 01 March, 2024

In a significant move towards improving water security,  YFCA completed the repair and maintenance of Tafer water network in Mayfa’ah district of Shabwah Governorate. This initiative is part of the project “Multi-sectoral Emergency Response to support IDPs and Other Vulnerable Groups in Ad Dali’ and Shabwah Governorates” funded by the German Federal Foreign Office (AA) in partnership with the Diakonie-Katastrophenhilfe (DKH)
The project involved extensive work on Tafer B network. The team extended a pumping line by 1400 meters, featuring 1300 meters of polyethylene pipes with a diameter of 3 inches and 100 meters of iron pipes of the same diameter. Additionally, the Tafer wellhead received crucial upgrades with a new cover and seal, the installation of an air vent valve with an inspection chamber, and the addition of a water meter, a non-return valve, and a pressure gauge.
These enhancements are aimed at developing access to safe and sustainable drinking water for the local population and effectively contributing to the reduction of water-related epidemics and diseases. The successful completion of this project marks a vital step forward in ensuring the fundamental human right to clean water in Yemen.
