In a significant move to enhance healthcare in Yemen, Family Care Association implemented a project aimed at providing integrated services in health, nutrition, water, sanitation, and hygiene to vulnerable communities and areas affected by the cholera outbreak. The project is funded by the YHF under project number YHF#27030.
The project focuses on strengthening medical services in the Wadi Marib district of Marib Governorate and the Khub and Al-Sha’af district of Al-Jawf Governorate. Through support to Alwahda Hospital and mobile medical clinics, the project delivered comprehensive healthcare services to local communities. Patients can now benefit from services such as medical consultations, family planning, vaccinations, and advanced diagnostic services including radiology and laboratory tests. Additionally, laboratories had been equipped with necessary medical devices and supplies, and essential medicines were provided to local pharmacies.
Furthermore, the project placed significant emphasis on psychological support, particularly in Marib. Alwahda Hospital offers additional services, including counseling and support for expectant mothers and women during pregnancy, including awareness sessions and mother-to-mother support groups in the infant and child nutrition department.
This initiative represents a crucial step toward improving the overall well-being of communities in Yemen, addressing critical health needs, and promoting resilience in the face of challenges. By integrating various services and prioritizing mental health, the project aims to create a healthier and more sustainable future for those affected by the ongoing crisis.
