Shabwah–. In a significant step towards improving water access, YFCA repaired and maintained the Al-Jareeba and Al-Qrwad water networks in the Mayfa’ah district of Shabwah Governorate. This initiative is part of the Multi-sectoral Emergency Response project aimed at supporting internally displaced persons (IDPs) and other vulnerable groups in Ad Dali’ and Shabwah Governorates. The project is funded by the German Federal Foreign Office (AA) in partnership with Diakonie-Katastrophenhilfe (DKH).
The project involved extensive work on the Al-Jareeba and Al-Qrwad B networks, including the extension of a pumping line with a total length of 1460 meters. This line comprises 1400 meters of polyethylene with a diameter of 3 inches and 60 meters of iron with a diameter of 3 inches. Additionally, the wellhead at Al-Jareeba and Al-Qrwad was covered and sealed. An air valve with an inspection chamber, a water meter, a non-return valve, a gate valve, and a pressure gauge were also installed to ensure the system’s efficiency and reliability.
The primary goals of this activity are to develop access to safe and sustainable drinking water for the residents of the targeted district and to contribute effectively to reducing the spread of water-related epidemics and diseases.
The successful completion of this project marks a significant milestone in the ongoing efforts to improve living conditions and public health in Yemen.
