Marib Al Wadi,– Marib
Amidst the challenging cholera outbreak, the Yemen Family Care Association (YFCA) has spearheaded the establishment of a Diarrhea Treatment Center (DTC) within Al Wahda Hospital, aimed at providing life-saving health services to the most vulnerable communities, including those in cholera outbreak hotspots in Marib Al Wadi.
The DTC is a critical component of the YHF-funded project “Provision of Integrated Life-Saving Health, Nutrition, WASH Interventions” in Marib, designed to bolster the health infrastructure and deliver comprehensive care to those in dire need. The center was officially visited by a joint delegation comprising representatives from the governorate health office (GHO), the World Health Organization (WHO), and the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), highlighting the collaborative nature of this humanitarian effort.
Equipped with 10 inpatient beds, the DTC is prepared to administer intravenous fluids and provide round-the-clock monitoring for patients with severe cases of diarrhea. The facility also features a state-of-the-art diagnostic laboratory to expedite the identification of cholera and other diarrheal diseases.
In addition to its treatment capabilities, the center deployed a team of 17 specialized healthcare professionals, trained to manage cases, receive referrals, and serve as a pivotal educational resource for the community.
YFCA’s initiative in establishing the DTC underscores its commitment to addressing the immediate health crises and underscores the collective resolve to improve the well-being of the affected populations in Marib Al Wadi.
